Rapid Angels Hillclimb

            About 140 riders came to Dyracuse Motorcycle Park to compete in the third District 16 hillclimb of the 2003 season. Spectators filled the parking lot to capacity to enjoy the beautiful summer day, and to watch some very entertaining racing.

            In the 80 Open, 450 class rider Danny Mears took the lead with an 8.190 second ride, but was quickly overtaken by Aaron Prebe on his 250 with an 8.104 second ride. Jackson, Wisconsin’s Tom Boerger claimed the lead on his Harley with an 8.094 second ride briefly before Louie Lauters broke into the seven second range with a 7.903 second ride. Kirk Mueller claimed the lead with a 7.667 second ride on his 500cc Honda, and Todd Cipala narrowly edged him out with a 7.661 second ride on his 750 Triple. However to the crowd’s delight, it was the final rider of the day, Open class national champion Lloyd Mueller, who stopped the timer with a time of 7.487 seconds to take the win and fast time of the day on his Harley.
