Tom ‘Wild Child’ Daniels was the fastest rider on the hill at the Cahokia Creek Dirt Riders hill climb on May 19.  Riding his incredible ‘Wild Thing’, a HIGHLY modified 750cc Kawasaki 2-stroke triple, he flew over the 120 foot hill in a blazing 3.134 seconds on his first ride in the 750cc class.  He wouldn’t need another ride, as that time held up for the rest of the night for the class win, and the Fast Time award.

Kevin ‘Bubba’ Bond and Jake ‘Crazy Jake’ Tackitt were Daniels’ closest challengers and waged their own little war in the 600cc class. Tackitt set the early fast time with a 3.662 second ride on his first ride on his CR500, but Bond was even faster on his Honda with a fine 3.641 second response.  In second round action, Tackitt moved back in to the lead with a high flying 3.432 second run, only to see Bond respond with a 3.402 second ride to take the class win.   Tackitt did, however, come away with one class win in the 200cc class on his vintage KDX200.

Brett Kalaher was the fastest of the youth riders, topping the hill 5.480 seconds on his KX85 to claim the 85cc Junior Mini class win, and the Youth Fast Time.  Jeremiah Lyday claimed second in the class.

In other youth class action, Dakota ‘D.J.’ Watson took the win in the 50cc class with Branson Stevenson running second, while Jeremiah Lyday was the fast guy in the 65cc class with Shon Calvert second.

Tim Reid had a good evening on his Yamaha YZ450F thumper, taking two class wins and a second.  He took the 450cc class win with a come from behind second ride of 3.909 seconds, after crashing at 70 feet on his first ride.  Phillip Claro was second with a 4.727 second ride on his first ride.

Reid’s first round ride of 4.237 seconds would have been good enough for the 600cc four stroke class win, but he followed it with an excellent 3.744 second run in the second.  Troy Camerer placed second in 4.483 seconds.

Reid really needed that fast ride in the Open Stock class, as Nick Gert topped the hill in 3.923 seconds for that class win, with Reid second in 4.033 seconds.  Gert was also a double class winner as he claimed the 250cc class win with a fine 3.858 second first round ride on his CR250.  Charles Mathewson was his closest challenger with a 4.145 second time on his YZ250.
