Tom Daniels, the ‘Wild Child’, doesn’t ride often any more, but when he does, he leaves a lasting impression.  Riding his incredible 750cc Kawasaki triple at the Rock River Riders hill climb on June 18, he first thrilled the crowd with a wild crash on his first ride, then followed it with an incredible 2.858 second high flying run on his second ride, taking the 750cc class win and taking the coveted Fast Time Award.  He was the only rider to break the 3 second barrier all day.

            Lane Schultz and John Steffen were both double class winners.  Riding a big bore Suzuki, Schultz carded the second fastest time of the day, 3.166 seconds to win the Open class, with his brother Wade, also Suzuki mounted taking second with a 3.274 second time.  Schultz then rode his vintage BSA to the win in the Open Pushrod class with a 3.873 second ride.  Nate Simenec claimed second on his Harley.

            Steffen claimed his first win in the Senior (+40) class as he topped the hill in 3.586 seconds on his second ride, overtaking Don Sheridan who had taken the first round lead on his Honda with a 4.542 second time.  Steffen crashed at 96 feet on his first ride in the Super Senior (+50) class, but sailed over the hill in 3.562 seconds on his second round ride to take the win from Marv Wiemkin who had posted a first round class leading 4.239 second time.

            Joe ‘Jammin Joe’ McGurer was the only youth rider to top the hill, thrilling the crowd with a 5.977 second time on his second ride to win the 85cc Junior Mini class.
