CREEK & McKAY FAST AT NEOGA

The Central Illinois Motorcycle Club held a double header hill climb over the Memorial Day weekend, dedicating it to longtime club member Cliff Denson, who was killed in a tragic traffic accident.

Jon Creek and Jared McKay were the fastest riders on Saturday and Sunday, with Dakota ‘D.J’ Watson claiming the Youth Fast Time award both days.

Creek claimed the Saturday Fast Time with a fine 3.113 second time in the 600cc class, coming from behind after crashing at 92 feet on his first ride on his CR500. Cody Jenner, also Honda mounted claimed second with a 3.137 second run with Andy Fortner third.

Creek also claimed the win in the Senior (+40) class with a good 3.282 second run on his Honda. Mike Pulver and Andy Fortner claimed the next two places with times of 3.342 and 3.385 seconds.

‘Jammin Joe’ McGurer and Jeff Jack were also double class winners. Jack got his first win in the 200cc class with a 3.541 second time on his KTM. Brian Shutt and Robert Quilter took the next two spots. Jack’s second win came in the 400cc Super Senior (+50) with a good 2.675 second run on his Kawasaki, with Mark Peters second and Jim Allen third.

McGurer got his first win in the 250cc class, topping the hill in 3.329 seconds on his first ride, which held up for the win. Matt Peters was second with a 3.340 second run and Jon Creek third. McGurer’s second win came in the Open Stock class where his first round time on his Honda of 2.706 seconds also held up for the win. Josh Denson was second in 2.827 seconds with Mike Pulver third.

Dakota ‘D.J.’ Watson took the 85cc Junior Mini class with a 2.964 second run on his Yamaha, which also earned him the Youth Fast Time trophy. Levi Peters was second and Derick Bell third.

In other youth class action, Brodie Bennett was the 50cc class winner with Ian ‘Chainsaw’ Brown second, Derick bell won the 65cc class with Levi Peters second, and Clayton Hirsch was the best in the 85cc Senior Mini class with Jacob Bell second.

On Sunday, the hills got a lot faster. (The Youth, Women, Stock, Quad, and Super Senior classes run on a different ’safer’ hill) Jared McKay turned the fastest time of the day in the 600cc class with a sizzling 2.605 second high flying ride in the second round, after crashing at 59 feet on his first ride. His ride slipped him under Cody Jenner, who sailed over the top in 2.651 seconds on his first round ride to take the fast time into intermission. Matt Peters was close behind him with a 2.654 second run for third.

Jeff Jack and Joe McGurer repeated their two class win performances of the night before. Jack took the wins in the 200cc and Super Senior classes again, while McGurer repeated his wins in the 250cc and Open Stock classes.

‘Fast Andy’ Fortner also was a double class winner, his first coming in the Senior (+40) class with a very fast 2.711 second run on his first ride. Jon Creek was his closest challenger with a good 2.781 second time, with Mike Pulver third. Fortner’s second win came in the 400cc Stock class. He and Kyle Galloway tied with 3.068 second times on their first rides, but Fortner improved in the second round with a class winning 2.928 second run. Mike Pulver slipped into second place with a 3.052 second run, pushing Galloway to third.

D.J. Watson claimed the Youth Fast Time trophy for the second straight day with a 3.423 second first round time in the 85cc Junior Mini class, with Andrew Fortner second. Brodie Bennett, Derick Bell and Clayton Hirsch were all repeat youth class winners.
