COMPTON BEST MUDDER AT NASHVILLE

Rain dampened the enthusiasm and slowed the times on Sunday, the second day of the Thomas Racing Service hill climb weekend near Nashville, Indiana.. Young  Dustin Compton was the best in the mud, taking the 600cc class win with a 17.043 second time on his KX500 – a time which also won him the Fast Time Award for the day.  Cody Jenner was his closest competition for both the class win and Fast Time, as he flew his CR500 over the top in a very good 17.449 seconds.

Brett Kalaher took the 85CC Junior Mini class win for the second straight day with a 29.066 second run and was also the Youth Fast Time winner.  Caleb Emory took the 85CC Senior Mini class win for the second day straight, Logan Moody did the same in the 65cc class and Steve ‘Bug’ Coon was the 50cc winner.

Caleb Emory completed a 4 win weekend as he added the 125CC class win to his Senior Mini, duplicating his Saturday accomplishments.  Jeff Jack also duplicated his Saturday performance, taking the wins in the 200cc and the Senior (+40) classes, to run his weekend total to four wins.  Ryan Garriott and Jim Mahan also repeated their Saturday wins, winning the 2-Stroke Quad and 4-Stroke Quad classes.

Other repeat winners were Adam Doublestein in the 250cc, Jamey Wallace in the 750cc class, R.D. Miller III in the Open class and young Jessica Coon in the Women’s class.  District 17 Hill Climb Director Gordon Green enjoyed 2 wins on Bud Northrup’s YZF450 thumper, one in the 600cc 4-Stroke class on Saturday and one in the 450cc class on Sunday.

Our thanks go to Jeff Thomas for promoting this 600 foot amateur hill climb with a challenging and very well laid out hill. The hill is basically a section of a motocross track laid out on a long hill – complete with a hairpin right turn and a sweeping left turn – something quite new to most hill climbers, but reflecting Thomas’ NAHA pro experiences. We hope he will be able to continue with this event – it is a good one!
