FORTNER FASTEST AT INDIANA STATE

The Goshen Iron Horseman hosted the 2005 Indiana State Hill Climb Championship race at their club grounds near Middlebury, Indiana. ‘Fast Andy’ Fortner was the top rider of the day, setting the Fast Time overall while winning the 600cc class title on his CR500.

Fortner topped the hill on his first ride in 4.229 seconds, one of the few riders able to successfully make the starting line jump to the second stage of the hill. That time would hold up all day for both the class win and Fast Time of the Day. Young Justin Trent was his closest challenger with a fine 4.296 second time on his second round ride with Cody Jenner running third in 4.449 seconds.

No single rider was a double class winner, but the Miller family came away with two titles as R.D. III took the 125cc class win while his father, R.D. II rode unopposed to win the Open Class title.

In youth class action, 12 year old Caleb Emory came out on top in the 85cc Junior Mini class, and was the fastest of all the youth riders with a 6.110 second run on his little Kawasaki. ‘Jammin Joe’ McGurer was second with a 6.309 second time.

Kolt Kinsler was the 50cc class winner with Cole Garriott second, Brett Kalaher won the 65cc class with Kinsler second, and’Blazin Blake’ Cappello was the best of the Senior class with Justin James running second.
