The Goshen Iron Horsemen hosted the 2007 Indiana State Hill Climb Championship race on their hill near Goshen, Indiana.   Shane Green and Chris Huizenga both claimed double championships, with Green also claiming the Fast Time of the day award.

Green’s Fast Time came in the 600cc class and he had to come from behind for the win.  His first round 4.193 second run had him in third place behind Huizenga and Dan Baldwin, Huizenga with a 4.018 second time.  In the second run, however, Green really turned his KX500 on, sailing far over the starting line jump, landing perfectly and shooting over the top in a sizzling 3.775 seconds to take the win.  Huizenga was faster also, but his 3.937 second run on his Honda was good only for second place, and second fastest time of the day.  ‘Fast Andy’ Fortner posted a 4.044 second ride to take the third spot.

Green’s second win was in the 250cc class where he took the first round lead on his YZ250 with a 4.836 second run. In the second round, Blake Cappello posted a 4.591 second ride to take the lead, but Green responded with a very quick 4.103 second run to claim the class win.

Huizenga’s first win came in the 450cc class where he took the first round lead with a 4.328 second run on his Kwasaki thumper.  Mike Popham took the lead briefly in the second round as he sailed his YZ450F Yamaha over the top in 4.029 seconds, but  Huizenga responded with a 3.984 second run to take the win - the third fastest run of the day.  Popham’s time was fifth fastest.

Huizenga used his fast Kawasaki to take the 600cc four stroke class win but had to overtake Popham to do it.  Popham flew his Yamaha over in 4.468 seconds for the first round lead with Huizenga close behind in second with a 4.485 second run.  In the second round, Huizenga sailed over the top in 3.999 seconds to take the win.  His time was the fourth fastest of the day, giving him three of the top four times.

Brett Kalaher was the fastest of the youth riders, his 6.299 second round run on his KX85 winning the 85cc Junior Mini class and taking the Youth Fast Time award. Logan Moody was second on his Kawasaki.

In other youth action, Dakota ‘D.J’ Watson claimed the 50cc class win with Clint Garriott second, Logan Moody was the 65cc class winner with Cole Garriott second while ‘Jammin Joe’ McGure was the 85cc class winner with Dylan Brady second.
