Allen ‘Big Al’ Petty was the fastest rider at the Goshen Iron Horsemen hill climb on June 22.  Riding his KX500 in the 600cc class, Petty found himself in second place  at intermission with a 5.879 second first round ride.  His father, District 15 Hillclimb Referee Scott Petty, was in first PLACE with a 5.550 second run.  In the second round, the district point leader, Shane Green sailed his KX500 over the top in 4.786 seconds to take the lead, but ‘Big Al’ responded with an even faster 4.623 second high flying ride to not only take the class win, but also the Fast Time of the day.  Green was also his closest challenger for Fast Time, with a 4.716 second class winning time in the 450cc class.

Scott Petty had to settle for third in the 600cc class, but still got a win of his own by taking the Senior (+40) class win.  He topped the hill in 5.603 seconds on his Honda in the first round to take the lead into intermission, then watched Mike Pulver move into first with a second round 5.571 second run on his CR500.  Petty was up to the challenge, however, and nailed a second round 5.456 second time to retake the lead and claim the class win.  David Duncan was third with a 5.666 second effort.

Kyle Lashley was the only double class winner of the day.  His first win came in the 250cc class, where his 5.721 run in the first round on his Honda took the lead into intermission.  Dylan Brady moved into the class lead with a good 5.707 second run on his second ride on his CR250, but Lashley responded with an even better ride on his second chance to reclaim the lead, and class win.  Kyle Galloway took third with a 5.745 second run on his KX250.

Lashley’s second win came in the 400 Stock class, where his first round 5.560 second run on his Honda was good for the class win.  Veteran rider Mike Pulver was his closest competitor with a good 5.583 second time on his first ride, but couldn’t improve on that on his second ride, and stayed in second place.  Kyle Galloway posted a 5.756 second run on his Kawasaki on his second ride, moving around Al Petty, who delivered a 5.761 second run, for the third place trophy.

In youth class action, the Garriotts had a good day with Clint winning the 50cc class and Cole claiming the 65cc win.  Charlie Gerencer was the 85cc Junior Mini class while Kody Netrouer was the best of the Senior Mini class riders.
