KALAHER DOUBLE WINNER, BALDWIN FAST AT GOSHEN

By:  Bud Northrup - Goshen, IN - May 18, 2008

Young Brett Kalaher was the only double class winner at the Goshen Iron Horsemen’s hill climb on May 18.  His first win came in the youth class, where he won the 85cc Junior Mini class with a 6.494 second ride in the second round on his KX85 to take the win from Charlie Gerencer who posted a 7.841 second time for second place.  Kalaher’s time was also good enough to set the Youth Fast Time of the day.

Kalaher returned to ride with the ‘big boys’ in the 125cc class and came from behind to take that class win with a 5.694 second ride in the second round.  His 6.423 second time on his first ride on his KX125 had him in second place behind Dylan Brady, who took the first round lead with a 6.151 second run.  Brady also improved on his second ride, but his 5.822 second time on his CR85 wasn’t good enough to reclaim the lead.

Dan Baldwin rode unopposed in the 750cc class, and crashed at 110 feet on his first ride, but flew his Kawasaki Triple over the starting line jump, landed cleanly and sailed over the top in 3.919 seconds.  It was the only three second ride of the day, and took the Amateur Fast Time away from Al Petty, who had set the fast time at 4.164 seconds while winning the 600cc class.  Chris Huizenga was Petty’s closest competitor with a 4.319 second time for second place, and third overall fastest of the day.

In other youth class action, Dylan Dekan won the 50cc class with Clint Garriott second. Cole Garriott was the 65cc class winner with Danny Baldwin second, while Amber Fraedrich was the best of the 85cc Senior Minis with Marshal Dillon second.

In Quad action, Ryan Garriott was the 2-Stroke class winner followed by  Evan Zimmerman, while Jody Timmins claimed the 4-Stroke class win with Jeff Ramey second.
