Harold Waddell injured...

Apparently Harold Waddell was injured while riding on an MX track this past weekend - not sure if he was racing or just riding.

At the moment I don't really have a lot of details to pass along, other than it sounds like he may face a long road to recovery. I'll try to find out more to post, but in the meantime if anyone else hears from the family or has any other information to share please send me a PM or email me at Motoman@KingOfTheHill.org

Harold was airlifted to the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and I just called and verified that he is still there.

From what I'm hearing it sounds like Harold broke both legs, an arm, and a hip, and has a few more injuries. He's already undergone some surgeries and is in stable condition, and in good spirits.

UPDATE 10/23/2013: Harold has been told he'll get to go home on Friday, Oct. 25th. So I've changed the address there to his home address.

Because of the serious nature of Harold's injuries, I would suggest not just showing up at the hospital for a live visit - should you be in the area and would like to do that, I strongly suggest you call the hospital and ask them about that first.

Wow that's crazy.... Use to race against Harold at nationals in the 80's then I took up motocross and then came back to compete against Harold as we got a little older at dickeyville.. Great person and great rider. Wil be thinkin about him and his family. Hope for a speedy recovery.

Update on the Oct. 6th race. At 10:00 am we will run the continuation of the Kansas State Championship. After that we will open the hill for play, drags, whatever! $10 a person to ride. ALL the money raised or any donations received will be donated to the Harold Waddell's injury fund. So come and help raise some money for our good friend Harold! See you their.

Doris sent me a note to let me know that Harold had been moved to a new facility - I have changed the address above accordingly. He's doing amazingly well, and is grateful for all the cards and flowers and such that have been sent his way. It's not sure how long he'll be at this new facility, but if and when I hear anything naturally I'll post it here on KOTH - also, if you're into that Facebook thing, you can keep up to date with Harold's latest info and progress there too.

Harold's going to get to go home finally...although that's very nice and will surely be a welcome change for Harold, he's still got a long way to go. It's going to be a lot of work for his wife Ashley as well - but the force is strong in Harold's family and I've no doubt that he's going to be back on his feet in record time!

Just a quick update - Doris sent me a note the other day letting me know that Harold's actually back to work! His fast recovery is amazing, as are most things that Harold does...
