Jared McKay hasn’t been riding much this year, but the 19 year old from Neoga, Illinois enjoyed a perfect night by winning both his classes and taking the Fast Time award.  McKay sailed his KX540 over the top of the 100 foot steep and rough hill in 3.234 seconds on his first ride to take the class lead and Fast Time in to intermission.  In second round action, however, “Fast Andy’ Fortner flew his CR500 over in 3.018 seconds to take the lead.  McKay answered Fortner’s challenge with a handful of throttle and rocketed over in a sizzling 2.856 seconds, the only sub 3 second run of the night, to take the win and the Fast Time award.  Dustin Compton was third on a KX500 in 3.299 seconds.

McKay got his second win in the Open Stock class with a 3.572 second run on his CR450F thumper, with Brian Klett claiming second on his KX500.

In youth class action, ‘Awesome’ Austin Creek had his best night ever, winning his 85CC Junior Mini class and taking the Youth Fast Time award.  His 4.353 second first round ride on his CR85 had him in third place at intermission behind Jeremy James (4.060) and Chris Peters (4.080), but he unleashed an outstanding 3.675 second run on his second ride to be the only youth rider to break into the 3’s.  Neither James nor Peters could improve on their first rides and settled for second and third.  It was a good night for the Creek family, as Austin’s father, Jon,  claimed the 250cc class win with a 3.087 second time on his RM250 Suzuki.

Steve Shafer was a triple class winner, riding his Harley unchallenged in the Open and Open Pushrod classes, but also claimed the win in the Senior (40+) class with a good 3.415 second run to overtake Mark Peters and his KTM550 who had taken the class lead with a 3.673 second time.  Kevin Bond was third on his Honda.

Paul Hillard was a double class winner, riding his Kawasaki triple unchallenged in the 750cc class, but also taking the 2-Stroke Quad class win on his Banshee with a 3.452 second first round ride, edging Jim Mahan who topped the hill in 3.510 seconds on his Honda.

In other Youth action, Logan Moody won the 50cc class with a 77 foot effort on his Polini with Levi Peters and his little Yamaha in second place.  Brett Kalaher added another win in the 65cc class with a 4.102 second run on his KX65 with Moody second, and Justin James was the best in the Senior Mini class with a 4.522 second time on his KX85 with John Rice and his Suzuki second with a close 4.587 second time.
