TACKITT AND McGURER FAST AT NEOGA

By: Bud Northrup - Neoga, Illinois - 9/17/05

Jake ‘Crazy Jake’ Tackitt had another perfect night hill climbing as he won both his classes and also claimed the Fast Time award at the Central Illinois M/C race on September 17.

Tackitt got his first win in the 200CC class, but had to come from behind to do it, crashing at 61 feet on his first ride, while Kevin ‘Bubba’ Bond topped the 100 foot, rough and steep hill in 4.919 seconds.  On his second ride on his old but still fast KDX, Tackitt sailed over the top in 3.425 seconds.  Bond also had a good second ride, but came up short of the win with a 3.668 second time.

Tackitt’s second win came in the fast 600cc Class, where he posted the only sub 3 second ride of the night, a 2.960 second high flying ride on his CR500. Brent Bowman was close to the 2 second bracket with a 3.008 second time on his KX500, with Andy Fortner close on him with a 3.019 second time.  Less than 6/100’s of a second separated the top three riders in the class.

Fortner, (‘Fast Andy’), however, did emerge as a big winner for the evening, as he took the ‘crown’ in the King of the Hill class – a one run shootout for the top ten fastest riders of the evening.  His 3.132 second ride on his Honda gave him his second straight ‘King’ win, and moved him to the top of the season long King of the Hill standings.  The last King race will be held by the Pleasure Riders on September 24.  Jared McKay was the closest challenger to Fortner in the King runoff, with a 3.142 second time on his KX540 – only 1/100th of a second behind, with Cody Jenner running third in 3.235 seconds on his CR500.

In Youth class action young Joe (‘Jammin Joe’) McGurer picked up his second win of the day and Youth Fast Time.  He had ridden at the Nashville, Indiana hill climb earlier and won that Junior Mini class, then made it to Neoga for the night climb and flew his little KX85 over the top of the ‘easy hill’ (CIMC has 2 hills) in 3.273 seconds on his first ride, which would have been good enough for the win, but he beat his own time with a sizzling 3.013 second time in the second round.  Class point leading Caleb Emory stopped the clocks in 3.443 seconds on his KX85 for second place.

In other youth class action, Dakota Watson took the 50cc class win with Logan Moody second, Brett Kalaher stretched his point lead in the 65cc class with that win with Tony Pauley Jr second, and ‘Blazin Blake’ Cappello extended his Senior Mini points lead with that win, with Justin James running second.
