‘Fast Andy’ Fortner lived up to his name once again at the Central Illinois M/C hillclimb with a clean sweep – three class wins and the fast time of the night. His first class win came in the fast and competitive 600cc class, where he flew his CR500 Honda over the 90 foot wall in a blazing 2.651 seconds on his first ride. That time would not only hold up for the class win, but also be the fastest overall time of the evening. Butch ‘Fearless’ Fetters was closest to him in the 600 class with a 2.870 second time on his KX500 with Josh Denson and his Kawasaki only 1/1,000’s of a second with a 2.871 second run. ‘Crazy Jake’ Tackitt and Randy Trosper rode their Hondas to the 4^th and 5^th place spots.

Fortner continued his fast riding with a blistering first round 2.710 second run in the 750cc class to take that class win on his Kawasaki Triple, and also posted the second fastest ride of the evening. Yamaha twin riders Greg Rankin and John Potter claimed the next two places.

But Fortner wasn’t done yet – he wanted a perfect night. And he got it by posting the two fastest times in the 400Cc Stock class. His first round ride of 4.089 seconds would have been good enough for the class win, but he bettered that run himself with a second round 3.952 second time on his CR250. Jon Creek claimed second place on his Honda, followed by R.J Watson, Matt Peters and Curtis Moore.

Matt Peters had a good evening with two class wins to go with his fourth in the 400 Stock class. His first came in the 250cc class on his CR250 with a first round 3.361 second run. Jared McKay was very close behind on his YZ250 with a 3.388 second time on his first ride, but crashed at 71 feet on a full throttle attempt to overtake Peters in second round action. Kevin Cappello, Jon Creek and Gordon Green filled out the top five places.

Randy ‘Buzz’ Green was also a double winner as he rode his Dale’s Harley sponsored Harley to victory in both the Open and Pushrod classes with times of 3.201 and 3.304 seconds. District point leading Steve Shafer rode his Harley to second place in both classes.

In Youth class action, ‘Dangerous’ Dylan Brady stretched his point lead in the 50cc class with a 49 foot winning ride on his Polini with Matt Gocken running second. Shane Green topped the hill in 4.407 seconds on his YZ85 on his second ride to snatch the win from Cody Rankin who posted a 4.421 second run on his first ride, but crashed at 84 feet on his second. Mike Popham stretched his point lead in the Senior mini class with a 3.805 second time on his YZ85 with John Gocken claiming second on his Kawasaki.

In other amateur class racing, Billy (Smilin’ Bill) Hanes stretched his lead in the 125cc class with that class with Josh Denson second and Jake Tackitt moved a bit further ahead of Gordon Green with a win in the 200cc class with Greenin second place. Randy Trosper and Gayle Jenkins also stretched their leads in the Senior citizen classes, Trosper taking the Senior (40+) class win and Jenkins the fastest of the ‘Super Senile’ riders (50+). Butch Fetters took the win in the Open Stock class.
