GREEN’S GREAT AT CENTRAL ILLINOIS HILL CLIMB

             Shane Green had another good night at the Central Illinois Motorycle Club hill climb, winning two classes and taking the Fast Time award.  His first win came in the 450cc class, where he came from behind to overtake Matt Peters for the win.  Peters took the first round lead on his KTM380 with a fast 2.482 second run on his KTM, with Green, also on a KTM, in second place with a 2.553 second run.  But in the second round Green shot over the top of the 100 foot hill in a sizzling 2.360 seconds, taking the class lead and setting a new Fast Time.  Peters was also fast again on his second ride, posting a 2.446 second round, but had to settle for second place  The 2.360 second time also held up for the Fast Time of the night..

            Green had set the first round Fast Time with a 2.388 second ride on his KX500 in the 600cc class.  That time held up for the class win with Butch Fetters second with a 2.534 second time.  Green was the only rider able to beat the time, finishing with the top two times of the night.

            Cody Jenner also had a good night, winning the Open winning the Open Class and also the King of the Hill class.  Jenner’s 2.509 second run on his big Kawasaki four was good enough to win the Open class, but he bettered it himself with a 2.429 second ride in the second round.  Paull Hillard took second on his 800cc Kawasaki Triple with a 2.612 second effort.

            The King of the Hill class is a one run winner take all event for the ten fastest riders of the day, sponsored by Kaleb Northrup and his Kingofthehill.org website.  Matt Peters set a good 2.448 second time on his KTM, but Jenner was even faster on his big Kaw, blasting over the top in 2.354 seconds for the win.  Mike Popham was third with a 2.520 second run.

            Young Logan Moody was the only other rider to claim two class wins, his first in the 65cc class with a 3.681 second ride on the ‘kids hill’.  He was the only rider in the class to top the hill in the class, and did it on both his rides.  Dakota ‘D.J.’ Watson claimed second with a 85 foot effort. Moody also claimed the 85cc Junior Mini class. Overtaking the class point leader, Brett Kalaher.  Kalaher took the first round lead with a 3.633 second time, but Moody posted a 3.329 second time on his second ride to take the class win and also set the Youth Fast Time for the day.

            ‘Jammin’Joe’ McGurer burst Moody’s perfect day hopes as he sailed his little Kawasaki over the top in 2.957 seconds to take the 85cc Senior Mini class win, and the Youth Fast Time award.  ‘Dangerous Dylan’ Brady claimed second with a fine 3.063 second time on his Honda.

            In other Youth class action, Dakota ‘D.J’ Watson took the 50cc class win with a 4.320 second time on his Cobra.  He was the only rider to top the hill in the class, doing it on both his rides.  Reece Hutton was his closest competitor with a 82 foot effort on his little KTM.

            District 15 Hillclimb Referee, Scott Petty also ran strong.  His 2.428 second ride on his Honda was good for the Senior (40+) class win, and was the third fastest ride of the evening.
