The Central Illinois Motorcycle Club held their second doubleheader hill climb of the year, with ‘Fast Andy’ Fortner taking the Fast Time trophy and $100 cash prize at the Saturday night event. Riding his CR500, Fortner overtook Cody Jenner in the second round action in the 600cc class. Jenner had set the class fast time at 3.078 seconds on his second ride, slipping under Fortner’s 3.101 second time in the first round. Matt Peters, however, had run the fastest time of the night on his CR250, a 3.060 second time to win the 250cc class. But ‘Fast Andy’ was up to the challenge as he grabbed a handful of throttle and flew his Honda over the top in a blistering 2.878 seconds to take both the 600cc class win and the Fast Time award.

    Peters still had a good night, however, as he claimed wins in both the 250cc and 450cc classes. Riding his classy KTM380 Peters came from behind in the second round of the 450cc class for that win. Paul Hillard had posted a 3.371 second time on his high flying 350cc twin cylinder Yamaha to take the first round lead, but Peters responded in the second round with a fast 3.128 second run to take the class win.

    Jason Northrup also had a double win evening, taking the 750cc class win on his Kawasaki Triple with a 3.277 second time, overtaking Paul Hillard who had just turned in a 3.612 second run on his triple. In Open Class action, Steve Shafer took the first round lead on his smooth running Harley with a 3.737 second run, after Northrup had a rough 4.090 second attempt. In the second round, however, Northrup straightened the 1220cc Jeff Thomas built 1220cc Yamaha and sailed it over the top in 3.128 seconds to take the win.

    Veteran Ron Todd was also a double winner, taking the wins in both the Senior (40+) and Super Senior (50+) classes.

    The Central Illinois club also awards a Fast Time Plaque to the fastest Youth rider – a very cool thing to do. Caleb Emory, riding a KX85, took his third such award in a row with a 4.244 second time in the 85cc Junior Mini Class.
