JENNER, McKAY, GREEN FAST GUYS AT CIMC HILLCLIMB

The Central Illinois M/C opened their 2005 hillclimb season with a new look. They added a second hill, still steep, but quite smooth, to be used by the Youth, Stock and Quad classes. The ‘regular’ hill, although short, is extremely steep, very rough, and features a shale shelf at the 70 foot level that is very difficult to get over – especially hard on small bikes, stock length bikes and Quads.

Cody Jenner was the fastest rider of the night at the opener, taking the 600cc Class win and the Fast Time Award. It wasn’t easy, as his first round leading time of 3.117 seconds was beaten by veteran rider Scott Petty with a sizzling 3.092 second run on his Honda in the second round. Jenner was up to the challenge, however, blowing over the top in a sensational 3.025 seconds. Petty, the District 15 Hillclimb Referee, nearly got him anyway, however, as he brought his Honda back to win the Senior (+40) class in an excellent 3.027 seconds – just 2/1’000’s off the Jenner time.

On Sunday, Jared McKay laid down an outstanding 2.727 second run on his first round ride in the 600cc Class, to set the Fast Time in the first round. No one was able to match that time in the second round, so he did it himself, flying his KX540 over in 2.680 seconds to take the class win and the Fast Time award. He also enjoyed a perfect double win day, as he also took the Open Stock class win on his CR450F thumper with a good 2.428 second time on the ‘easy’ hill.

The club also awards a Youth Fast Time Award, and Shane Green claimed it both days. Green was the 2003 National Champion in the Junior Mini Class, and showed his skills off with 3.000 second time on Saturday night, followed by 2.742 second time on Sunday to win the 85CC Senior Mini Class both days on his YZ85.

In addition to McKay, Paul Hillard, Matt Peters and Steve Shafer were triple winners for the weekend. Hillard took the 750cc class win both days and added the 2-stroke Quad win on Saturday. Peters grabbed the 450cc class win both days, and added the 250cc Class win on Sunday, while Steve Shafer was a double winner in the PushRod class, plus winning the Open Class on Saturday.

R.D. Miller III was the best of the 125cc class riders, taking that class win both days, while Kevin ‘Bubba’ Bond was the 200cc Class winner both days, Butch Fetters doubled up in the 600cc Four Stroke class, Scott Petty doubled in the Senior Class and Danny Schuman claimed first both days in the 400cc Stock Wheelbase class.

In other Youth Class action, Jeremiah Lyday and Dakota Watson split the wins in the 50cc Automatic class, Brett Kalaher took both wins in the 65cc Class, while ‘Jammin Joe’ McGurer and Caleb Emory shared the 85cc Junior Mini class wins.
