The weather was cold and wet for the Central Illinois M/C hill climb weekend, but the riders bundled up and rode hard.  Cody Jenner was the fastest of the night, flying over the 100 foot steep and rough hill in 2.921 seconds.  His fast time was in the 600cc class on his Honda CR500, with Matt Peters his closest competitor with a 3.169 second run

            Peters had a very good evening, as he added two class wins to go with his 600cc class second place effort.  His first win came in the 250CC  class where his 2.983 second time was fast for the class, and fastest of the night for a while – Jenner the only one to beat the time all night.  Dustin Compton claimed the second spot with a 3.177 second run on his KX250.

            Peters’ second win came in the 450cc class where he topped the hill in3.003 seconds on his KTM380. The District 17 Hill Climb Director, Gordon Green, claimed second on his KTM360 with a 3.445 second run.

            Steve Shafer made his first appearance of the young season and won all three classes he entered.  Riding his classy Harley, Shafer won both the Open and Open Pushrod classes with times of 3.222 and 4.008 seconds.  He returned to also claim the Senior (+40) class win with a nice 3.458 second run, with Kevin Bond taking second in 3.502 seconds – just 1/100^th quicker than Robbie Ellis who topped out in 3.512 seconds.

            In Youth class action, National #3, Dakota Watson, topped the ‘Youth/Oldfolks/Stock/Quad’ hill  in 5.549 seconds to win the 50cc class – the only 50 to see the top. Brett Kalaher edged Logan Moody in the 65cc class, posting a 4.526 second time to Moody’s 4.664 second run.  But Moody got even by slipping by Kalaher in the 85cc Junior mini class with a 4.028 second time, while Kalaher settled for second place with a 4.146 second run.  Jeremy James took his third straight Youth Fast Time award by winning the 85CC Senior Mini class with a nice 3.867 second time.

            In Quad action, Jim Mahan continued his perfect 2006 season with his fifth straight win in the 4-Stroke Quad class, with Paul Hillard claiming the win in the 2-Stroke class

            Jenner continued his dominant riding on Sunday, with two class wins and another Fast Time award.  His first win came in the 250cc class, flying over the top in an astounding 2.841 seconds to not only take the class win, but also the Fast Time of the day award – quite an accomplishment for a 250cc machine! Dustin Compton also broke in to the 3’s, posting a good 2.960 second time for second place.

            Jenner was his own closest competitor for Fast Time, as his 2.847 second run on his second ride on his CR500 to win the 600cc class was the second fastest of the day. He had to come from behind for this win, however, as Dustin Compton sailed over the top in 2.924 seconds on his first ride to take the class lead into intermission.  Dustin had to settle for 2 seconds for the day, despite delivering the 3^rd and 4^th fastest times of the day.

            In Youth class action, Dakota Watson took the 50cc class win for the second straight day, with Levi Peters second.  Logan Moody and Brett Kalaher switched their Saturday night finishes, this time Moody taking the 65cc class win with Kalaher second, and Kalaher winning the 85cc Junior Mini Class with Moody taking second.  Kalaher’s 4.586 second time in the Junior Mini class was also good for the Youth Fast Time award.  Jeremy James stretched his win streak to four in a row with a 5.239 second winning ride in the 85CC Senior Mini Class with Jessie Coon second.
