The hill climb scheduled for September 8 at the Pleasure Riders M/C was rained out and run as the first of a Sunday doubleheader on a still very slick and muddy hill.  Shane Green proved to be the best in the mud, having a perfect day – winning all three classes he entered while setting the top three fast times.  Young Joe McGurer was also perfect in the Youth group, winning his two classes and taking the Youth Fast Time award.

Green’s first win came in the 250cc class and had to overtake Eric Wheelwright for the win.  Wheelwright took the first round lead on his Yamaha with a 5.295 second run with Grreen second.   In the second round, Green posted a 4.935 second time on his YZ250 to take the lead.  Wheelwright responded with a 5.176 second run, just good enough for second place as John Colbert was just one thousandth of a second behind him on his Yamaha.  Green’s time was the Fast Time of the Day at that point.

In 450cc class action, the same scenario played out, with Wheelwright taking the first round lead with a 5.108 second run, and Green running second.  In the second round, Green posted a new fast time with a 4.862 second time.  This time would hold up for both the class win and the overall Fast Time award.  Wheelwright’s first round time held up for second place.

Green didn’t waste any time posting the fastest time in the 600cc class, sailing his KX500 over the 160 foot hill in 4.951 seconds on his first ride, setting the Fast Time to that point, and what would prove be the third fastest time  of the day. Justin Trent carded a 5.009 second time for second place with Wheelwright in third.

‘Jammin’ Joe’ McGurer got his first win in the 85cc Senior Mini class with a 6.311 second ride on his KX85 in the first round, and was also the fastest for any youth rider.  ‘Dangerous Dylan’ Brady placed second.  Joe’s second win came in the 125cc class where he overtook Brady for the win.  Brady posted a 5.855 second run on his Honda in the first round, but McGurer sailed his KX125 over the top in 5.818 seconds in the second half for the win.

R.D. Miller III enjoyed a double win, his first in the 600cc four stroke class on hiss KTM525.  He took the first round lead with a 6.177 second run, but Gordon Green slipped under him with a 6.063 second run in the second half.  Miller responded with a 5.932 second time to reclaim the class lead and the win. Riding his big and bad Harley, Miller took the Open class with a 5.506 second time, with Paul Hillard taking second on his 800cc Kawasaki triple.

In other youth action, D.J. Watson won the 50cc class with Rylee Dowers second, Logan Moody took the 65cc class with Watson second, and Brett Kalaher was the fastest in the 85cc Junior Mini class with Moody second.
