‘FAST ANDY’ & ‘JAMMIN JOE’ FAST GUYS AT PLEASURE RIDERS CLIMB

It rained hard on the Pleasure Riders 155 foot hill just 3 hours before race time, but the Quad riders were given practice time and then run first, and really dried out the hill and return trail very well for the evening action. The hill was tacky and fast - and so was Andy Fortner. (The fast part, I mean)

Fortner had been squeezed out of the Fast Time trophy the week before by ‘Crazy Jake’ Tackitt, but he turned the tables on him this night. Fortner carded a 4.351 second time on his CR500 on his first ride to take the lead into intermission, with Tackitt sitting second with a 4.458 second time. In the second round the hill was really getting fast, and Tackitt flew his Honda over the top in 4.245 seconds to take the class lead and set a new fast time. But not for long. ‘Fast Andy’ grabbed a handful of throttle and held it on, sailing over the top in an astounding 4.107 seconds to retake the lead and the Fast Time award. Justin Trent claimed third with a 4.523 second time on his Honda.

In youth action, ‘Jammin Joe’ McGurer turned in an excellent 5.587 second run on his first ride in the Junior Mini class, which would have held up for the class win and Youth Fast Time, but he bettered it himself with a second round 5.366 second time on his KX85. Dakota Blakeney ran second with a 5.617 second time on his Suzuki.

Mark Schroeder was a double class winner on his stock length Yamaha YZ250. Riding in the 250cc class, he popped over the top in a very good 4.496 seconds on his first ride, which no one in the class could match all night. Shane Green, also on a Yamaha, placed second with a 4.659 second time.

Schroeder brought his Yamaha back in the 400cc Stock class and laid down a 4.555 second ride in the first round – a time again no one in the class would match all night. Rod Kalaher was closest with a 4.915 second time on his KX250.

District 15 Hillclimb Referee Scott Petty ran his Senior Class win streak to five with first round 4.893 second time on his CR500, with Kevin Bond taking second on his Honda in 5.111 seconds.

In other youth action, Cole Garriott took the 50cc class win with Logan Moody second, Brett ‘Wild Worm’ Kalaher grabbed his Tenth straight win in the 65cc class with Dakota Blakeney second, and ‘Blazin Blake’ Cappello stretched his points lead in the Senior Mini class with that win with John Rice second.
