Jacob ‘Crazy Jake’ Tackitt enjoyed a perfect night at the Pleasure Riders night hillclimb on July 9, winning both his classes and taking the Fast Time award.  He turned in a very fast time on his first ride in the 600cc class, a 4.283 second high flying effort to take the lead in the class.  But Brent Bowman blew over the top of the 155 foot hill in a sizzling 4.266 seconds to take the class lead and fast time into intermission.

In second round action, however, Tackitt twisted the throttle on his Honda CR500 just as tight as it would go and sailed high over the breakers and flashed over the top in 4.113 seconds to retake the class lead and set a new Fast Time.  Andy ‘Fast Andy’ Fortner also had a sizzling second round ride, posting a 4.167 second time on his Honda to take the second spot, with Bowman slipping to third.

Tackitt’s second win came in the 200cc class on his KDX 200, and he had to come from behind to take that one, also. Kevin ‘Bubba’ Bond stopped the clock in 4.993 seconds on his KDX on his first ride to set the first round lead, with Gordon Green in second place with a 5.390 second time.  Tackitt found himself in third place with a 5.646 second offering.  But on his second ride, Tackitt sailed over the top to take the class win with a fine 4.846 second run.

Kaleb Northrup made a long trip down from Minnesota to advertise the Red Wing Labor Day Midwest invitational race, and picked up three class wins while here.  Riding his Kawasaki Triple, he took the 750cc class win with a good 4.801 second run, with his dad, ‘Old Bud’, taking second on his Yamaha.  District points leader Paul Hillard crashed on his only ride for third place.

Northrup then claimed the Open Class win with a 4.898 second ride on his Yamaha R1, with Scott Petty running second on Jason Northrup’s Yamaha, and Old Bud ran third on his Triumph.  Kaleb used the Triumph to run unopposed in the Push Rod class for his third win.

In youth class action, Caleb Emory extended his points lead in the 85cc Junior Mini class with a very fast 5.596 second first round ride, which would have won the class.  Blake Cappello, however, posted a 5.210 second time on his KX85 to take the first round lead in the Senior Mini class, and set the Youth Fast Time for the first round.  But Emory returned on his second ride and flew his little Kawasaki over the hill in 5.020 seconds to retake the Fast Time, which did stand up for the beautiful trophy. Schuyler Kalaher was second in the Junior Mini and Justin James claimed second in the Senior Mini.

In other youth class action, Cole Garriott thrilled the crowd with a 6.759 second winning time in the 50cc Automatic class on his Polini with Logan Moody, also on  aPolini, close behind him in 6.975 seconds. Brett Kalaher took the 65cc class win on his KX65 with a 5.707 second time with Matt Gocken and his little Kawie running second in 5.883 seconds.

Brad Franklin won the Two Stroke Quad class with Wade Garriott second, while Jeff Ramey was the fastest of the Four Stroke Quads, with Mark Crum second.
