Young Shane Green was just plain unbeatable at the Pleasure Riders double header weekend hill climbs, claiming a perfect night with three class wins and the Fast Time of the night on Saturday, then repeating the performance on Sunday.

On Sunday Green set the early Fast Time with an outstanding 4.588 second run on his YZ250 in the first round of 250cc class action.  That time would have held up for the class win, but he beat it himself with an even quicker 4.571 second time in the second half of action.  Mike Popham once again claimed second with a good 4.650 second run on his first ride, but crashed on his second effort at 145 feet, going all out trying to catch Green.

Green also wasted no time in setting the pace in the 450cc class, cruising over the top in 4.690 seconds on his KTM for the first round lead, with Popham his closest challenger again with a 4.761 second ride on his Yamaha.  Neither rider could improve on their second rides, but their first round efforts held up for the top two spots in the class.  But, just as he did the night before, Popham claimed a win in the 600cc 4-Stroke class, this time with the District 17 Hillclimb Director, Gordon Green, taking second place.

Green’s Fast Time once again came in the 600cc class, and once again he wasted no time, flying high over the top in 4.251 seconds on his first ride, setting a time which would hold up the entire day. Justin Trent was his closest challenger in both the 600cc class and for Fast Time, carding times of 4.284 and 4.290 seconds – the second and third best times of the day. Jake Tackitt was fast, too – sailing his Honda over in 4.582 seconds for third place.

Mike ‘Maico Mike’ Bacon was a double class winner, winning both the Senior (40+) and Super Senior (50+) classes.  He had to come from behind in the Senior class as Randy ‘Rocketman’ Trosper took the first round lead with a good 5.203 second run on his CR500 with Mike Pulver running second with a 5.255 second time on the Andy Fortner Honda.  In the second round, however, Bacon twisted the throttle a little tighter on his Honda and topped out in 5.150 seconds to take the class lead.  Pulver moved in to second place with a 5.178 second run with Trosper only two thousandths of a second behind him for third.  The top three riders were packed into 3 hundreths of a second!

Bacon had to come from behind in the Super Senior class also, as he had a very painfull crash at 115 feet on his first ride, with Billy Ray Pearson taking the first round lead with a 5.889 second time.   Bacon nailed an excellent 5.173 second run on his second run to take the class win, as Steve Horath slipped under Pearson with a 5.815 second time to claim second place.

Dakota Blakeney was the fastest of the youth competitors, winning the 85cc Senior Mini class and taking the Youth Fast Time with a second round time of 5.537 seconds on his Honda, overtaking Joe McGurer, who  had taken the first round lead with a 6.324 second run on his Kawasaki.  ‘Jammin’ Joe’ was much faster on his second ride also, but his 5.715 second run fell short of what he needed for the win.

In other youth action, D.J. Watson took the 50cc class win with Clint Garriott second, Logan Moody was the 65cc class winner with Watson second, and Brett Kalaher took the 85cc Junior Mini Class win with Moody second.
