SCHUMANN, PETERS FAST AT PLEASURE RIDERS

Cayuga, IN 7/24-25/10

Danny Schumann and Matt Peters waged a Fast Time war at the Pleasure Riders hillclimb near Cayuga, Inndiana, with Schumann coming out on top. Schumann posted the first round fast time at 4.143 seconds in the 600cc class, but Peters carded a 4.112 second time in the 250cc class on his second ride on his CR250. That time held up until the 600cc class rode it’s second round. Schumann flew his KX500 high over the top of the 155 foot hill in a sizzling 4.035 seconds to take that class win, and the overall fast time of the day. Schumann had the first, third and fourth fastest times of the day, while Peters had the second and fifth fastest. Schumann was the only double class winner of the evening.

Schumann and Peters waged interesting class wars, also, as they rode against each other three times. In the 250cc class, Schumann placed third behind Peters and Caleb Emory. Emory turned in the first round leading time of 4.210 seconds, but crashed on his second ride.

In the 450cc class, Schumann took the first round lead with a 4.416 second run on his KTM380, but Peters flew his KTM over in 4.176 seconds for the lead. But Schumann responded with an even quicker 4.138 second time on his second ride to retake the lead and claim the win. Bobby Senn claimed the third spot on his CRF450.

Schumann’s 4.143 second time in the 600cc class on his first ride would have held up for that class win, but not the overall fast time, as Peters still had that 4.112 second run in the 250cc class. So he twisted the throttle just a bit tighter, and set a new fast time which would hold up the rest of the night. Troy Camerer was second in 4.308 seconds with Dylan Brady close behind him in 4.316 seconds.

In youth class action, National Champion ‘Lightning’ Levi Peters took the 50cc class win with a 6.200 second run on his KTM, with Cline Garriott second in 6.385 seconds. Clint Garriott was the best in the 65cc class with a 5.780 second run with ‘Little Fast Andy’ Fortner second.

Cole Garriott posted a 5.282 second time to win the 85cc Junior Mini class, which was also the Youth Fast Time of the night. Reece Hutton claimed second with a very good 5.452 second time. Matt Gocken was the fastest in the 85cc Senior Mini class with a 5.506 second time with Austin Shelton claiming second.

The Gocken family had a good evening, as Matt’s big brother, John Michael, took first place in the 600cc Four Stroke class, second in Open Stock and fourth in the 450cc class on his stock length Honda 450 thumper.

The Garriott family also had a good evening as Ryan and Wade claimed first and second in the two stroke Quad class to go with the boys youth class finishes.

The Sunday half of the weekend doubleheader saw Matt Peters continuing waging a Fast Time war, but this time with Bobby Senn as his chief opponent. Riding on a muddy slick hill, Peters set the first round fast time at 4.488 seconds on his KX500 in the 600cc class. In the second round competition however, the hill had become tacky and much faster. Danny Schumann lowered the fast time with a 4.487 second run in the 250cc class, then ‘Jammin Joe’ McGurer lowered it a tad more to 4.484 seconds. But Peters was up to their challenges, and sailed his CR250 over the top in 4.289 seconds to take the class win and set a new Fast Time.

In the 450cc class, Bobby Senn entered the fray, flying his Honda thumper over in 4.182 seconds to take that class lead, and set a new Fast Time. But Peters was up to the Senn challenge also, and posted a new fast time of 4.160 seconds on his KTM380 for his second class win. Schumann claimed third.

The fun continued in the 600cc class where Senn was the first rider in the second round, and sailed his Honda high and far over the top in a new Fast Time of 4.138 seconds. And Peters responded yet again, blitzing the hill in 4.077 seconds to take the class win, set the overall fast time of the day, and claim yet another perfect day with three class wins and the Fast Time Award. Schumann again claimed third.

Senn had one more shot on his CRF450 in the 600cc Four Stroke class, ad delivered a good 4.262 second time for that class win to add a win to his two second place efforts.

Lakota ‘Shay’ Ashworth was a double class winner. She shocked the guys in the 200cc class for the second time this year with a 5.027 second time on her vintage KDX200 in the second round to overtake Kyle Galloway and Chris Senn for the win. Senn was second on his KTM in 5.127 seconds with Galloway close behind him with a 5.129 second effort on his KDX.

Shay’s second win came in the Women’s class, where her first round 5.214 second run on her Kawasaki held up for the win. Missy Dowers was second in 5.776 seconds with Becky Lawson third.

In youth class action, Levi Peters claimed the 50cc class win with a 5.830 second time with Cline Garriott second. Clint Garriot was the 65cc class winner with a 6.036 second time, with Peters second. Cole Garriott was the fast guy in the 85cc Junior Mini class with a 5.444 second run, with Reece Hutton second. Garriott’s time was also the Youth Fast Time of the day – his second such award in two days.

Austin Shelton was also a double class winner as he took both the 85cc Senior Mini class win in youth competition as well as the 125cc class win. His 5.176 second first round leading ride was beaten by Joe McGurer with a 5.032 second run in the second round, but Austin delivered a 4.968 second run on his second ride to claim the win.. Missy Dowers was third.
