On Sunday, July 10, the Saturday night Fast Time war at the Pleasure Riders Hill Climb between Jake Tackitt and Andy Fortner for the Fast Time award continued, (Tackitt won it on Saturday night) with Fortner setting the first round time to beat at 4.440 seconds. ‘Crazy Jake’, on his second ride, set a new fast time with an excellent 4.287 second ride, just after Brent Bowman had set the time to beat at 4.321 seconds.  But ‘Fast Andy’ lived up to his name once again, flying his CR500 over the top in 4.287 seconds on his second round ride to retake the class lead, and the Fast Time award.

The Youth Fast Time was another repeat battle - between Caleb Emory in the Junior Mini class and Blake Cappello in the Senior Mini. (Emory emerged victorious Saturday night) ‘Blazin Blake topped the hill in 5.441 seconds on his first ride to take the class lead and set the fast time, but Emory answered in the second round with a blistering 5.172 second run to win his class and set a new fast time. Cappello was also faster on his second run, but his 5.264 second time, good enough for the class win, fell short of Emory’s time and Caleb picked up his second Youth Fast Time award in as many days.  But Cappello still went home happy, as he was a double winner  on this day, as he also won the highly competitive 125cc class, running his weekend total to three class wins.

Kaleb Northrup was a double class winner, taking the wins in the 750cc and Open classes, running his weekend win total to five.  He had to come from behind in the 750cc class, as the district points leader, Paul Hillard, took the first round lead on his Kawasaki triple with a time of 4.930 seconds.  On his second run, Northrup put his triple in the air off the second breaker and landed it cleanly, shooting over the top in 4.652 seconds to take the lead.  Hillard had a great hole shot on his second ride, but tossed his chain landing from a jump, and had to settle for second.

Northrup got his second win on his beautiful and fast Yamaha R1 powered open class bike with a 4.818 second run.  Ron Todd claimed second on Northrup’s brother’s big FJ1200 powered machine (Jason is sidelined with a broken ankle).

Matt Peters was a double class winner also, taking the 250cc and 450cc classes, running his weekend total to three.  He overtook Shane Green in the 250cc class with a second round 4.544 second run for that win, with Green taking second in 4.573 seconds.  In the 450cc class, Peters nailed a 4.774 second time on his first ride, just 2/1,000’s faster than Green – both riders on KTM380’s.  Green moved into the lead in the second round with a 4.516 second run, but Peters countered with a high flying 4.486 second run for the win.

In other youth class action, Brett Kalaher joined Emory and Cappello as a repeat winner, his in the 65cc class.  Logan Moody was the 50cc class winner.

The riders and spectators enjoyed an exhibition pit bike race, where 10 riders attempted to climb the hill on a pair of Honda 50s and an XR70.  Kevin L. Bond actually topped the hill in 11.593 seconds for the win, with his son, Bubba, coming in second with a 148 foot ride.  John Colbert took third on a 134 foot effort on the XR70.  It was fun to watch!
