The rain hit hard at the Pleasure Riders M/C club grounds on June 23, and the first half of the Saturday/Sunday doubleheader hill climb had to be postponed to the next morning.  At 8:00 that morning 70 brave riders attacked the slick and muddy 155 foot, three stage hill.  Justin Trent emerged as the fastest mudder, taking the 600cc class win and the Fast Time award with a 5.229 second first round ride on his CR500.  Shane Green was his closest challenger in both the class action and Fast Time quest with a  second round 5.390 second run on his KX500, overtaking John Colbert who had posted a 5.546 second time on his first run on his Honda.

Mark Schroeder set the early fast time, piloting his stock length YZ250 over the top in 5.474 seconds to take the first round lead in the 250cc class.  But in the second round, ‘Blazin’ Blake’ Cappello topped the hill in 5.413 seconds to take the class win.  Schroeder did claim a win however, as he brought his Yamaha back to win the 400cc Stock class with a 5.664 second first round ride which was never beaten.  John Colbert claimed second on his Yamaha with a 5.740 second ride on his Yamaha in the second round to slip by Kyle Galloway and Mike Pulver, who had posted 5.760 and 5.769 second times in the first round to be sitting in second and third places at intermission.

Mike Bacon was a double class winner, taking both the Senior (+40) and Super Senior (+50) class wins, continuing his unbeaten streak in the Super Senior class.

Brett Kalaher was the Youth Fast Time winner with a 6.967 second first round ride on his KX85 to win the 85cc Junior Mini class.  Logan Moody topped the hill in 7.802 seconds for second place.  Moody was Kalaher’s closest challenger for the Youth Fast Time also as he carded a 7.442 second time on his KX65 to win the 65cc class.  Cole Garriott claimed second with a 77 foot effort.

In other youth class action, National Champion Dakota ‘D.J.’  Watson took the 50cc class win with a 76 foot ride on his Cobra with Clint Garriott second.  Dylan Brady won the 85cc Senior Mini class with an 8.153 second time on his CR85 with Amber Fraedrich second.

After a half hour break, and with the sun shining, 84 riders entered the second round of racing on a hill that was still slick and muddy, but now pretty well chewed up, too.  It didn’t faze Trent, however, as he once again took the 600cc class win and the Fast Time award.  He had to work harder this time however, as his 5.901 second time on his first ride had him  in fifth place at intermission, with Shane Green holding down the top spot, and Fast Time, with a 5.255 second ride.  Trent was at his best on his second run, however, as he sailed his Honda over the top in 4.742 seconds to take the class win and the Fast Time away from Green.  Green countered with a fine 4.878 second run on his Kawasaki, but couldn’t reclaim the win.  Green and Trent were the only riders to go under the five second mark all weekend.

Mark Schroeder set the early Fast Time with a first round 5.417 second time on his stock length YZ250, then bettered it in the second round with a 5.361 second time for the win.  His good friend John Colbert was closest to him with a good 5.484 second time on his Yamaha, which he also rode stock length.

Schroeder and Colbert brought their Yamahas back in the 400cc Stock class with a different result.  Schroeder again took the first round lead with a 5.645 second ride with Mike Pulver holding down second place with a 5.664 second run on his CR250.  But in the second round, Colbert moved from fourth to first with a fine 5.374 second ride to take the class win.  Schroeder also improved on his first run, but his 5.443 second effort left him just short of a second win for the day.

Dylan Brady was the fastest youth rider, posting a second round 6.333 second time on his CR85 to win the 85cc Senior Mini Class and overtake Logan Moody who posted a good 6.540 xecond time to win the 85cc Junior Mini class.  Amber Fraedrich finished second behind Brady while Brett Kalaher claimed second behind Moody.

Moody was a double class winner, as he also took the 65cc class win with a good 6.671 second time on his KX65, with Cole Garriott close behind with a 6.863 second time.  D.J. Watson repeated his 50cc class win with a 124 foot effort on his Cobra with Clint Garriot taking second.
