Butch ‘Fearless’ Fetters continued his hot riding the second of the Pleasure Riders weekend doubleheader on June 22 – with much the same results – two class wins and the Fast Time Award. He set the fast time again on his first ride in the 600cc class, blazing over the top of the 150 foot hill in 4.171 seconds on his KX500, taking the class win and Fast time from Jared McKay, the 17 year old ‘Young’ Gun from Neoga, who had posted a time of 4.211 seconds on his Kawasaki. The next best time, by Andy Fortner, was well of the pace of Fetters and McKay, a 4.362 second run for third place.

Fetters quickly returned in the 600cc class where, riding his National Champion KTM520, where he posted a 4.468 second time for his 10th win in 11 events this year in that class. Will Dalenberg, riding a 450 Honda, put decent pressure on him with a 4.513 second run for second place.

Mark ‘Murk’ Schroeder also had back to back double win days on his YZ250. His first win came in the 250cc class with a fine 4.283 second first round time on his stock length Yamaha. Class point leading Matt Peters nailed down second place with a 4.320 second run on his Honda while 13 year old John Michael Gocken took third.

Schroeder has been nearly unbeatable this year in the 250 class when he rides – he has four wins and a second in the five climbs he’s competed in.

Schroeder’s second win came in the 400cc Stock class where his first round 4.436 second run was good enough to win, but ‘Murk’ rode again anyway, beating his own time with an excellent 4.238 second time – one of the best of the day. Schroeder has three wins and two seconds in the five climbs he’s ridden in this class. The young Gocken was the next best in the class on his Yamaha with a 4.457 second run and Paul Stephenson took third with a 4.643 second time on his KX250.

Jason Northrup appears to have all the bugs out of his Jeff Thomas built 1220cc Yamaha as he took the win in the Open class for the second straight day with a 4.662 second run. Harley Riders Steve Shafer and Randy ‘Buzz’ Green finished second and third. Green is still leading the class in points, but Northrup is coming on strong and the class is getting tight. This will be an interesting class to watch the rest of the year.

In youth action, Shane Green continues to dominate the 85cc Junior Mini class. On this day he topped the hill in 5.596 seconds on his YZ85 to take his fifth straight win, and an amazing 11 in 12 races! Dakota Blakeney was a double winner, taking the win in the 50cc class on his Cobra, then coming back in the 65cc class and winning that also on his KX65. Kieven Hillard took the win in the Senior mini class on his KX85 with a very quick 5.436 second run.

In other amateur class action, Brent Bowman took his second straight win in the 125cc class, Jake Tackitt won the 200cc class, and Matt Peters was the 450cc class winner. Andy Fortner took his third straight win in the 750cc class, Scott Petty got his second straight win in the Senior class and Keith Klett was the fastest of the Super Senile riders. Steve Shafer took the Pushrod class win and Tom Brown was best in the Open Stock Class.

In Quad action, Ryan Garriott took the 2 stroke class win while Jason Cappello was the fastest of the four strokes.
