The Pleasure Riders started their Sunday event in a drizzling rain, and only 114 of the previous night’s 141riders decided to challenge the muddy, slick hill. Jared McKay was the best mudder, as he flew his KX540 over the top in 4.108 seconds to take the 600cc class win and the Fast Time Award. Veteran Scott Petty was next best in that class with a 4.244 second run on his CR500.

    McKay was a double winner for the second day in a row. He actually tied with Mark Schroeder with a 4.250 second time on his YZ250cc class to share the win in the 250cc class. The drizzling rain turned into a raging downpour at the end of the first round of riding, so the second round was cancelled and no tiebreaker runs could be made. Schroeder also rides a YZ250, but stock length, so he was also a double class winner by bringing his bike back and taking the 400cc Stock class win with a 4.531 second effort, well ahead of runner-up John Gocken’s 5.204 second run. Schroeder is the 2003 National Champion in the 400cc Stock class.

    In Youth class action, ‘Jammin Joe’ McGurer was a double winner. Riding his Kawasaki KX65, Joe topped the hill in 10.652 seconds in the 65cc class, the only rider in that class to get over the muddy precipice. Joe brought his bike back in the 85CC Junior Mini class and sailed over the top in 6.659 seconds for that class win. His traveling companion and good buddy, ‘Joltin Jake’ Wood was his closest challenger with a good 6.715 second time on his KX85. Jeremy James was the only other rider in the class to top the hill, which he did in 8.067 seconds on his KDX80.

    Jason Northrup continued his 2004 unbeaten streak with his fifth straight victory in the 75occ class with a 4.410 second time on his Kawasaki triple, with Nate Simenec,, riding Bud Northrup’s triple, taking second place.
