Jake ‘Crazy Jake’ Tackitt had one of his best hillclimbing weekends ever as he claimed four class victories, two Fast Time and also the ‘King of the Hill’ shootout at the Belleville Enduro Team’s doubleheader hillclimb weekend.

    Tackitt nailed down the 200cc class season points championship in District 17 by riding his 1985 KDX200 to the wins both days with times of 5.078 and 5.113 seconds on the 200 foot, two stage hill. Jimmy Cox took second on Saturday while Chris Peters was the runner up on Sunday.

    But it was in the Open Class where Jake really went crazy. Riding a big bore 4 cylinder Kawasaki in the Open Class, he flew over the top in 4.199 seconds to take the class win and the coveted Fast Time Award. Steve Shafer was his closest challenger in the Open Class with a 4.897 second time on his Harley, while Jared McKay was his closest challenger for the FastTime Award with a 4.324 second winning time in the 600cc class. On Sunday, Tackitt was even faster, taking the Open Class win with a 4.124 second ride with Mike Schobert running second in 4.298 seconds. His biggest threat for the fast time again came in the 600cc class, where Cody Jenner claimed the class win with a very impressive 4.227 second run on his Honda.

    But the best was yet to come, as the club ran the one run King of the Hill shootout class for the ten fastest riders of the day. ‘Crazy Jake’ was still hot, as he took that win also, with McKay and Jenner running second and third. Quite a weekend for the 17 year old ‘young gun’ from Mount Vernon, Illinois.

    Mike Popham picked up two class wins on Saturday on his classy Yamahas. Riding his YZ125, he nailed an excellent 5.076 second time on his first ride which held up for the win, with point leading Brent Bowman close behind him on his Honda with a 5.105 second time. Popham returned in the 250cc class on his new YZ250 and won that class also with a good first ride, a 4.489 second effort. Jon Creek was his closest challenger in this class with a 4.641 second time on his RM250.

    Matt Peters and Jared McKay had triple win weekends. Peters claimed the 450cc class win on his KTM380 on both days, and also grabed the 250cc class win on Sunday. McKay claimed wins in the 600cc and Open Stock classes on Saturday, and the Pushrod class on Sunday. Blake Cappello, Josh Denson, Paul Hillard, Mark Peters and Rod Kalaher all enjoyed double win weekends in their classes.
