HILLARD FAST, JENNER KING AT BELLEVILLE

The Belleville Enduro Team hosted a hillclimb on May 22 at their beautiful club grounds near Belleville, Illinois.  The 200 foot hill was very well prepared, and the riders truly enjoy riding on it.  The timing lights, however, were very unreliable, and many, many riders had to ride multiple times before getting a time.  Nevertheless, as one rider put it – ‘we got through it, and we hope they have more than one next year – maybe a couple doubleheaders!’

Paul Hillard, from Bismarck, Illinois, was the fastest rider of the day, taking the coveted Fast Time Award.  Hillard took the award on his second ride in the 750cc class with a blazing 3.405 second run on his Kaw triple, to take the class win away from Ronny Gussert, who had taken the class lead with a 4.280 second run.  John Potter finished third on his newly built triple in 4.492 seconds.

Shane Green was a double class winner, taking the first in both the 85CC Senior Mini and 250CC classes.  He had to come from behind to take the Senior Mini win, as Blake Cappello slipped under his 5.286 second first round time with a nice 5.091 second time on his KX85.  Green responded with a very fast 4.646 second run on his YZ85, however, to claim the victory.  Justin James finished third.

In the 250CC class, Green’s 3.912 second first round ride on his YZ250 was not bettered.  Hard riding Mike Popham was his closest challenger with a 4.061 second time on his Yamaha, and Justin Hanna claimed third with a 4.205 second run.

Cody Jenner was the 450cc class winner on his YZ450 with a 4.087 second run on his first ride, with Hillard running second on his Yamaha 350 twin.  Jenner finished second in the 600cc class, his 3.947 second run just shy of ‘Crazy Jake’ Tackitt, who won the class with a 3.890 second time.  Cody, however,  brought his Honda CR500 back in the one run top ten ‘King of the Hill’ class, and took that win.  He is the reigning  District 15/17 ‘King’ from 2004.

In other Youth class action, Dakota Watson took the 50cc Automatic win with Jeremiah Lyday second, Brett Kalaher was the winner in the 65cc class with Logan Moody second, and Caleb Emory was the fastest in the 85cc Junior Mini class with Schuyler Kalaher running second.
