The Belleville Enduro Team hosted the last District 17 hillclimb weekend at their clubgrounds near Belleville, Illinois on October 4 & 5. Jacob ‘Crazy Jake’ Tackitt proved to be the fastest of all riders, riding the Gayle Jenkins Honda to the win in the 600cc class, setting the fastest time of the night when he did it. Tackitt cleared the top of the 200 foot hill in 4.413 seconds to edge runner-up Jared McKay who had posted a good 4.463 second time on his KX500. ‘Fast Andy’ Fortner finished third on his Honda in 4.507 seconds, with Josh Denson and Jon Creek taking the 4th and 5th place spots. Tackitt ran unopposed in the 200cc class to take that win also.

McKay also enjoyed a double win evening, as he took the 250cc class win with a 4.560 second time on his classy Yamaha, with Jon Creek claiming second on his RM250 in 4.984 seconds. McKay’s second win came in the Open Stock class, where he carded a 4.743 second run on his CR450F thumper in the second round, just barely good enough to beat Adam Karosky who had taken the class lead with a 4.751 second ride in first round action.

Mike Schobert joined the double winner club with wins on his 4 cylinder Suzukis in the 750cc class and Open Class. Schobert flew his 750 over in 5.171 seconds to defeat second place runner John Potter, and blasted over the top on his bigbore bike in a blazing 4.488 seconds for that win, with Adam Krakosky claiming second with a 5.304 second effort.

In Youth class action, six year old Jeremiah Lyday, carrying his National #6 plate on his Cobra, climbed 160 feet for the win in the 50cc Automatic class, edging district point leading Logan Moody, who climbed 149 feet on his Polini. Caleb Emory took the 65cc class with a 180 foot run on his KX65, with Drew Daniels right on him in second with a 179 foot effort on his KTM65. In the 85CC Junior Mini class, Daniels was the first rider of the evening to top the hill, carding a 6.863 second time on his first ride on his KTM85. He then returned and improved that time with a 6.382 second time on his second ride. Caleb Emory also conquered the hill, carding a 6.857 second time on his second run to briefly take the lead from Daniels. District point leader Mike Popham was an easy winner in the 85CC Senior Mini class, sailing his YZ85 over the top in 6.079 seconds for the win. Chris Hoover was second with a 141 foot effort.

In other amateur action, Brent Bowman increased his point lead in the 125cc class with a win there, with Popham running second. Josh Denson took the 450cc class win ahead of Andy Fortner, and ran unopposed in the 600cc 4-Stroke class to claim two wins for himself on his YZ426F Yamaha.

Kevin McKay took the Senior class win with Ron Todd claiming the Super Senior class, and R.J. Watson clinched the season championship in the 400cc Stock class with that win.
