The King City Dirt Riders hosted the final hillclimb of the District 15 season, with Jacob ‘Crazy Jake’ Tackitt again emerging as the big winner as he did the night before. He started his day by winning the 200cc class and sealing the District points championship on his old KDX200. His first round 4.197 second ride was good enough for the win, as challenger Gordon Green’s best time was a 4.373 second run.

Tackitt’s big ride, however, came in the large and fast 600cc class. Riding Gayle Jenkins’ Honda, Tackitt flew over the 150 foot hill in 3.584 seconds on his first ride, setting a time no one in any class would match the rest of the day. Jason Northrup was his closest competitor, sailing his CR540 ‘Airhammer’ over in 3.713 seconds, with Jared McKay close behind him with a 3.737 second run on his KX500. Tackitt picked up a beautiful 5’8" trophy and $200 for his Fast Time award.

Jenkins’ Honda had a perfect night, as the ‘Old Pro’, Jenkins, rode it to wins in both the Senior and Super Senior classes.

Northrup had another shot at the fast time in the 750cc class and attacked the hill with a full throttle charge on his Kawasaki triple. He got too much air off the top breaker and cased the big bike on landing, doing an ‘endoe’ uphill. He went over the handlebars, hitting the ground head first, then the bike hammered him into the hill. Despite the radical crash move to the finish line, he still recorded a 3.800 second time to win the class ahead of Paul Hillard with a 4.148 second time on his triple. Northrup, somewhat stunned, ‘walked it off’, and returned a few minutes later riding his FJ1220 in the Open Class. He wasn’t quite up to par in that class, however, and settled for a second 3.819 second run behind Jim Redpath’s 3.739 second time on his big Kawasaki fourbanger.

In youth class action, Caleb Emory was a double winner, riding his KX65 to wins in both the 65cc and 85cc Junior Mini classes. He was the only rider in the 65cc class to break into the 4’s and did it on both rides, his best a 4.874 second run. "Jammin Joe’ McGurer took second place on his KX. In the Junior Mini class Emory looped his liitle Kaw on his first ride, but came back with an outstanding 4.819 second run on his second ride to take the win from Drew Daniels, who carded a good 4.964 second time on his KTM. Jeremiah Lyday took the 50cc class win with Logan Moody second, and Mike Popham won the Senior Mini with R.D. Miller III second.

‘Flash’ Gordon Green rode a borrowed KTM360 in the 450cc class and delivered a fine 3.954 second run, just good enough to beat Greg Joy and his YZ450F thumper, who turned a 4.017 second time. Joy came back later with his Yamaha, however, and won the Open Stock class with a 3.948 second time.

Other amateur class winners were Brent Bowman in the 125cc class, Billy Hanes in the 250cc class, and Josh Denson in the 600cc 4-atroke class. Bud Northrup rode unopposed in the Open Pushrod class, Joe Ellis was the best in the 400cc stock class, and Paul Hillard was top guy on the four wheelers.
