It was brutally hot at the King City Dirt Riders hill climb with 100 degree temperatures.  Andy ‘Fast Andy’ Fortner was even hotter, taking the Fast Time award with a sizzling 3.467 second run on his second round ride on his CR500.  It was a come from behind win, as Jared McKay had taken the first round lead in the 600cc class with a fine 3.506 second time, but couldn’t better it on his second run.

            Fortner wasn’t satisfied with just the Fast Time, however, and doubled up his victories by also claiming the win in the King of the Hill race – a one run dash for cash for the top ten riders of the day sponsored by Kaleb Northrup and his Kingofthehill.org website. ‘Fast Andy’ topped the hill in 3.611 seconds for that win, with R.D. Miller III his closest challenger with a 3.690 second time on his KX250.

            Caleb Emory repeated his performance of the previous day by claiming the Youth Fast Time trophy with a 4.485 second Junior Mini class winning time.  Jammin Joe McGurer was his closest competitor in the class, and for the fast time, with a 4.621 second run on his KX85.

            In other youth class action, Logan Moody took the 50cc class win on his little Polini aith a 6.958 second time.  Dakota Watson was the only other rider in the class to top the 155 foot hill, doing it on his Polini in 8.082 seconds.    Brett Kalaher stretched his point lead in the 65cc class with a 5.244 second winning ride with Logan Moody second.  The Senior Mini class win went to Kieven Hillard, who topped the hill in 4.946 seconds, with class point leading Blake Cappello claiming second in 4.986 seconds.

            The closest competition came in the 450cc class, where young Shane Green took the win on his newly acquired KTM380 with a second round time of 3.689 seconds.  This was barely good enough to sneak under Matt Peters, also running a KTM380,  who posted a 3.695 second time.  Peters had taken the class lead into intermission with a good 3.766 second time, and came up just short of reclaiming the win from Green on his second ride.  Good entertainment!
