COMPTON PERFECT AT BELLEVILLE

By: Bud Northrup - Belleville, IL - 5/21/06

Young Dustin ‘D.J.’ Compton just missed a perfect night at White City the night before, but this day was perfect at the Belleville Enduro Team hill climb at Belleville, Illinois.  Compton won all three of the classes he entered, set the three fastest times of the day, and won the one run, winner take all, King of the Hill class.

Compton’s first win came in the 250cc where he flew his KX250 over the top of the three stage 200 foot hill in 4.382 on his second ride, overtaking Larry Filtch who had taken the first round lead with a 4.671 second run.  D.J.’s winning time proved to be the second fastest all day.

His Fast Time came on his first ride in the 600cc class, sailing his KX500 high over the top in 4.319 seconds for the class win and the Fast Time Award.  Rodney Riddell  finished second with a 5.410 second time on his Honda.

Compton’s third win came in the 400cc Stock class with a 4.596 second time on his KX250 well ahead of Danny Schumann who claimed second place with a 4.843 second time.  D.J’s time in this class was also the third fastest time of the day, giving him not only the fastest time, but the three top times in his 3 different classes.  He finished off his perfect day by running his KX500 in the King of the Hill class and actually beating his own fast time with an astounding 4.237 seconds, though the Fast Time Award goes to the fastest time in the ‘regular classes’.  In reality, D.J. had the top four times of the day if you count the exhibition class ‘King’ run.

In youth class action, Brett Kalaher took the Youth Fast Time for the second day in a row.  Riding his KX85, Kalaher topped the hill twice in the 85cc Junior Mini class – the only rider in the class to clear the top at all.  His 6.224 second ride in the second round not only took the class win, but was good enough for the Youth Fast Time, as Jeremy James claimed the 85cc Senior Mini class win with a second round ride of 6.322 seconds.  Dakota ‘D.J.’ Watson was the 50cc class winner while Tom Goodnick claimed the 65cc class win.
